Choose evidence for triangle congruence

The idea

Match corresponding vertices, sides and angles before naming a condition.

Step by step
  1. Match corresponding vertices, sides and angles before naming a condition.
  2. Recognize SSS, SAS, ASA and AAS; for SAS and ASA, identify what lies between the other matched parts.
  3. Check the limits: AAA proves similarity, and SSA does not guarantee congruence for arbitrary triangles.

Example

All three pairs of corresponding sides have equal lengths.

Answer

SSS

Three corresponding side equalities establish side-side-side congruence.

Try it together

Draw a triangle and a larger scaled copy. Use them to show why equal corresponding angles alone do not establish congruence.
