LETTER LIBRARY
Letters A–Z.
Names, shapes and sounds.
Start with a few familiar letters. Pair capital and lowercase forms, name a picture and choose a short activity for the learner’s next step.
A letter name is not its sound.
A and a represent the same letter in two written forms. The letter name helps us talk about it; the sound we hear depends on the word. Some letters represent more than one sound, and some sounds use more than one letter. Begin with a small, explicitly modeled set.
The picture words match the app’s existing artwork. They are written-letter examples. Xylophone begins with written X but is normally spoken with /z/ at its beginning; the X page uses box and fox to explain the more common /k/ then /s/ sequence.
