Read the fishing question carefully and look for the needed factor. Some challenges involve choosing a pair. Equal groups and familiar multiplication facts are useful ways to reason about the catch.
How to play
- Notice whether the question needs one factor or two.
- Look through the available fish.
- Check that the catch makes the stated product.
Make one useful connection
After a turn, ask “How did you work that out?” Try an array, a known fact or real objects if an answer is uncertain. Moving, holding and remembering are extra skills; choose another interaction if those get in the way of the numbers.
