Read counts from a fractional measurement plot
The idea
A line plot places a mark at each measurement; repeated values have several marks at the same position.
Step by step
- A line plot places a mark at each measurement; repeated values have several marks at the same position.
- Read the fractional positions and the key before counting marks.
- Select the positions named by the question, then combine or compare their mark counts.
Example
A line plot records plant lengths. Its mark counts are: 1/4 m: 2 marks 1/2 m: 3 marks 3/4 m: 1 marks Each mark represents one plant.
How many plants were measured in all?
